As part of the City of Weyburn's ongoing upgrades at the Water Treatment Plant, scheduled maintenance will be performed next week requiring temporarily reducing reservoir capacity.
In a press release Friday afternoon, the City stated that this work supports important regulatory monitoring by the Water Security Agency and helps ensure safe, high-quality drinking water for our community.
To ensure daily water needs can continue to be met throughout this period, the City is asking residents and businesses to reduce non-essential water use beginning on Friday, June 13th.
The release explains that the conservation period is expected to last at minimum of two weeks and, as it comes during a season of high demand, the cooperation of residents will help manage water service to meet an essential community need.
Ways to help during the conservation period include delaying activities like filling swimming pools or washing vehicles, limiting use of lawn sprinklers and outdoor water features, and avoiding unnecessary indoor and outdoor water use.
Therefore, this weekend is a good time to finish up any water-related tasks before conservation efforts begin.
The City is anticipating the cooperation of residents to help ensure the water needs are met throughout this work beginning next week.
Updates will be provided as the project progresses.
