As wildfires continue to burn out of control in northern Manitoba, more and more Manitobans continue to step up.
Recently, students from Grant Park High School collected clothing and sewed pillows for evacuees who are currently being hosted at the Billy Mosienko Arena.
"We're grateful for the support that residents of Winnipeg have shown for all of the northerners being hosted in their city," said the city of Flin Flin in a post on Facebook. "Thank you to everyone who is volunteering to make northern residents feel welcome during this incredibly difficult time."
In Flin Flon, no structures have been lost in the Channing area and Mitchell Road as of this morning.
Crews will be focused on protecting the south side of Flin Flon, up the western and eastern ends of the city.
The city says the wind hhs shifted and is blowing from the north, pushing the fire back onto itself.
The Manitoba Wildfire Service continues to respond to 28 active wildfires across the province, a total of 113 wildfires to date, well above the average for this date of 95 total fires.
