A grass fire temporarily shut down Highway 9 in both directions near Township Road 262, just north of Highway 566, on Saturday afternoon, though the highway has since reopened.

Alberta 511 first reported the full closure at 12:09 p.m., stating: "Highway 9 north of Highway 566, Kathryn – closed due to grass fire. Fire department is on scene."
At 1:19 p.m., the agency issued a follow-up alert confirming the highway had reopened. All lanes are now open to traffic.
