Wildfire smoke is affecting parts of Rocky View County near Cochrane, leading to poor air quality and reduced visibility.
Conditions are expected to improve later today, but officials warn that smoke levels can shift quickly and vary from one location to another.
Health experts are advising people to limit time outdoors, especially those most vulnerable to air pollution, such as seniors, young children, pregnant individuals, people with chronic conditions, and outdoor workers.
Common symptoms of smoke exposure include eye, nose, and throat irritation, headaches, and mild coughing. More serious symptoms, such as chest pain or severe coughing, may also occur and should be treated as a medical emergency.
To reduce exposure indoors, keep windows and doors closed and consider using a clean air filter or a certified portable air cleaner. If you need to be outside, a properly fitted N95 mask can help reduce exposure to fine smoke particles.
