Former Winnipeg Blue Bomber legend Milt Stegall is thanking everyone who reached out after the tragic loss of his 20-year-old son, Chase.
"Thank you to the entire CFL community," says Stegall on social media. "To my bosses, the commissioner, my CFL on TSN family, players, past and present, owners, coaches, general managers, team staff, media personalities, and the incredible fans who make this league so special. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."
In early June, the Blue Bombers' President and CEO, Wade Miller, made a statement letting people know that Stegall's son, Chase, had died.
"Every tribute, every call, every message, post, or sign, every act of love has wrapped my family and me in a comfort that is helping us navigate through these difficult times."
The cause of death is still unknown, but Chase's passing was unexpected.
"The love you've shown us has been overwhelming, in the best way. It's reminded us that this league, this family, runs so much deeper than football. Please continue to keep us in your prayers. We feel them."
When Chase died, he was attending DePaul University in Chicago, where he played on the men’s soccer team as a student athlete.
