Arson suspected in abandoned wooden grainery fire at outskirts of Roland

Arson is suspected in a Friday night blaze Roland Fire Department responded to on the outskirts of town.

Chief Donald Roy says the call came in at 10:15pm regarding a structure fire on Arctic Road, on the community's north side.

When crews arrived they found an old abandoned wooden grainery fully engulfed in flames. Chief Roy says firefighters quickly deployed a couple attack lines and put out the fire at the structure and surrounding bush.

There were no injuries in the incident.

"Circumstances of the fire point it out to likely be arson," noted Roy in a message to PembinaValleyOnline.
