So, this past week our family attended Picnic in the Park. We always enjoy going as there's a lot of fun to be had for the kids between the bouncy houses, carnival games, and just general running around and being, well, kids.

While we are there (and really, darn near every day of the year in general) the kids are asking for ice cream. Most of the time, if it's a trip to get ice cream somewhere it usually ends up being some elaborate ice cream concoction. But at the end of the day, none of that is actually needed. Ice cream is ice cream. Whether it's a hot fudge sundae with sprinkles and caramel syrup, or a Fudgsicle. So, when the kids asked for ice cream on Sunday, and we gave them Fudgesicles, they were thrilled.

I think as parents, we sometimes over complicate things of what we think kids may want or need. Everyone wants to give the best they can to their kids and keep them as happy as they possibly can. And for whatever reason, we always think the more elaborate, or expensive, or fancy, the better. But 1 Fudgsicle kept our kids just as happy as they would have been if they would have gotten a bucket of 12 different ice cream flavours.

On top of that, both me and Amanda enjoyed a Fudgsicle as well. And it was amazing. Yes, we could go to the grocery store and buy a box any day of the week. But we don't. Amanda waits every year for Picnic in the Park to have one, and I haven't had one in I don't know how many years. That was one of the easiest, yet most satisfying things to Sunday.

Simplicity. Somehow, simple things always seem to be crowded by overthinking, overplanning or just seems like 'it can't be that simple.' Like there has to be more to it, or a caveat involved. But there isn't. In many cases, the simple things are the most satisfying.

Simplicity. Worth it.
