Paul Singh has become the second candidate to enter the race for town council.
Last night, Singh announced his candidacy in front of a large group of supporters.
“Today, I’m taking a big step by announcing my candidacy for town council in 2025,” he told the cheering crowd. “This decision is about serving the place I have called home since 2014 and the people I believe in.”
It’s Singh’s second election bid, having finished just 78 votes behind Alex Reed for the sixth and final seat in the previous election.
The well-known Cochranite is heavily involved in the community in many capacities, including the grassroots Cochrane EMS Citizens Action Group, the Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee, the Cochrane and Area Health Foundation, and several other worthy causes. He was Cochrane’s citizen of the year in 2018.
Singh’s campaign website will be live this week.
Dan Cunin is the only other person registered as a candidate so far for the Oct. 20 municipal election.
Mayor Jeff Genung is also seeking re-election, while Dean Hopkins, a second mayoral hopeful, has kept a low profile to date.
