A congregation in Texas is mourning the loss of Pastor Jason Owens, a long-serving and deeply respected spiritual leader.

In an official statement posted to the church’s Facebook page on Thursday, church leaders shared the news "with an extremely heavy heart," describing Owens as "a cherished friend and a vital part of our church family."

The Roys Report says that Owens was driving his motorcycle on June 4 when a driver ran a stop sign. The vehicle struck Owens' motorcycle and then fled the scene. He was transported to hospital where he later died.

"His unwavering faith, compassion, and love for the Lord touched the lives of everyone he encountered," the church's statement reads.

Church leaders say that Owens was known for his humility, warmth, and encouragement, and that he played a central role in the life of the church.

"He was that person anyone could talk to, and he always had something encouraging or even humorous to say," church leaders added. "This truly hurts."

While the church community grieves, they also expressed gratitude for Pastor Owens’ lasting impact and are taking solace in the words of John 14:27, a promise of peace and comfort.

"We hold his family close in our hearts and trust that God’s comfort and grace will surround them now and forever," the statement concluded. "He will be greatly missed, but his spirit and legacy will live on in our hearts always."

No further details regarding funeral arrangements were immediately provided.

The Roys Report states that the church has "around 1,000 members, The Rock Faith Center church, offers several family ministries to the military based community of Fort Bliss, one of the largest military installations in country."
