Politicians from around the world will be in K-Country soon for the G7 Summit.

The G7 Summit will be held in Kananaskis from June 15 to 17, which is going to see a Controlled Access Zone in effect from June 10 to 18 in K-Country, as well as parking restrictions along a portion of Highway 40.

Parking restrictions will be in place on all motorized vehicles leading into Kananaskis Valley, beginning this Saturday.

The restrictions will be in place from 12:01 a.m. on June 14 through June 18, and police enforcement of the parking ban will include Highway 40 from the junction of Highway 1 to the north winter closure gate at the junction of the Kananaskis Lakes Trail.

These restrictions are in place to ensure the safety of internationally protected peoples, participants at the Summit, and for the safe movement of police vehicles.

If someone were to park in a restricted area, the Integrated Safety and Security Group (ISSG) will not issue monetary fines, but the vehicle may be removed from the area and then secured in an area where it can be safely returned to the owner at the cost of the impound fees.

The RCMP will have officers at accreditation check points along Highway 40 and will remind motorists of the restrictions in Kananaskis Valley.

"The ISSG wishes to thank motorists in advance for their cooperation and their support to ensure the safety of world leaders, Summit participants and the public," the RCMP stated in a media release.
