Members of the Diamond Valley Fire Rescue are on route for their second deployment to support wildfire relief efforts.

On May 29, two Diamond Valley firefighters and a fire apparatus were deployed to Swan Hills.

Now that the Swan Hills wildfire is being held, the crew and equipment are now travelling to the Red Earth East Complex.

The area is made up of numerous wildfires in the Slave Lake Forest Area, with two classified as out of control.

With the continued wildfire activity each year, it’s become common practice for members of the Diamond Valley Fire Rescue to volunteer in support of provincial wildfire operations.

Last year, the members went to Jasper to assist with structural protection.

While they are away, there will be no disruption to emergency services in Diamond Valley and the surrounding area.
