The RCMP's Musical Ride will make multiple stops this summer, including performances at the Calgary Stampede, Spruce Meadows, and Century Downs in Rocky View County.
The Musical Ride is described by the RCMP as "an iconic Canadian spectacle recognized at home and abroad, and a symbol of tradition, honour, and pride." It features up to 32 RCMP officers and their horses performing intricate formations and drills set to music.
In Calgary, performances are scheduled at the Calgary Stampede from July 4 to 6, and again from July 8 to 13. Shows take place at 1410 Stampede Trail SE.
The Ride will also appear at Spruce Meadows, 18011 Spruce Meadows Way SW, on September 1 and September 3 to 7.
In Rocky View County, the troop will perform at Century Downs Racetrack and Casino, 260 Century Downs Drive, on August 9 and 10.
In Strathmore, the Ride will perform at the Strathmore Stampede, hosted by the Strathmore & District Agricultural Society, from August 1 to 3 at 33 Wheatland Trail.
Provincewide, the Musical Ride is scheduled to visit Calgary, Edmonton, Pincher Creek, Red Deer, St. Paul, Cold Lake, Lloydminster, Strathmore, Medicine Hat, Rocky View County, Camrose, Athabasca, Wabasca, High Level, La Crête, Fairview, Donnelly, Whitecourt and Mayerthorpe.
According to Alberta RCMP, members of its Indigenous Policing Services and recruitment team will also be present at many events "connecting with the communities and people we serve."
The RCMP says Musical Ride performances help raise thousands of dollars for local charities and non-profit groups.
