The bats came alive for the Swift Current 57's in WCBL action over the weekend.

They combined for 21 hits and 12 runs in two games against Saskatoon, including a 7-6 win on Sunday.

"This is pretty much what I needed to wake up for the team," said 57's Head Coach Ruddy Estrella. "We got it going this week. I think if we can keep going with the bats this week, we'll have a chance to move up in the standings."

The win was a bit emotional lift for Swift Current after a nine-game losing skid to start their schedule.

"It's a pretty exciting moment," Estrella said. "It was really vibrant in the city. It was nice to have the community there supporting us. It was good to get our first win against Saskatoon when they were on a hot, seven-game winning streak."

Silas Hilton led the way, going 5 for 7 with 2 walks and 4 runs scored on Saturday and Sunday.

"I'm excited this kid woke up," Estrella said. "I've been waiting for him to wake up. He was an All-American in Region 9. I know he has a lot more to give for us. Once he gets going on the top of the line up he will be hard to stop."

The 57's wrap up a six-game homestand tonight with another match-up against the Regina Red Sox. They're 0-3 against Regina and have scored only four times in those games.

"Just come out with the same intensity," Estrella said. "Same game plan. Never let down and go attack. Take advantage of missed pitches."

First pitch is 7:05 PM at Mitchell Field.
