Residents of the Navou trailer park were woken early on Saturday morning to a structure fire involving two buildings. Deputy Fire Chief Mike Wock says crews dispatched to the scene were greeted by heavy fire.
“The fire started on a vacant trailer. And with the weather conditions and the wind that evening, it extended over into an occupied trailer.”
Wock explains the efforts of firefighters included protecting those nearby alongside fighting the blaze. He says they faced some challenges but ultimately quenched the fire.
“The firefighters dealt with ensuring that the occupants of the trailers and the surrounding trailers were removed and brought to safety. Then they started to extinguish and that went on for several hours. With lack of water supply in the trailer park, a lot of shuttling water, and early morning hours, we had it out and under control.”
While both trailers experienced extensive damages, with one deemed a total loss and the other a 90 percent loss, it was fortunate no one was hurt.
“No injuries. The occupants were alerted by working smoke detectors in their homes.”
