The Weyburn Fire Department (WFD) has finally filled the role of Deputy Fire Chief, hiring Estevan local Mike Wock. He brings a wealth of experience from over ten years of firefighting.
“My first six years as a firefighter was in Naples City, Utah, when I worked with Crescent Point in the States. And in 2018, I returned to Canada and joined the Estevan Fire Department and was a lieutenant with them.”
Wock explains he decided to join the department in Weyburn for the opportunity to pursue a full-time career as a firefighter, and to escape work on the oil patch. He says he’s fortunate to serve in an area he’s already familiar with.
“I'm really familiar with the area, and in the process of moving to a home in Weyburn, which will happen later this month.”
He reflects on his first few weeks in Weyburn saying he’s learned a lot and has had many new experiences.
