As the Energy City Ex prepares to welcome the community this Friday, residents have taken to social media to express their concerns about the 'cashless' option that will be available during the event.

The Estevan Exhibition Association (EEA) announced that it will be offering debit and credit options as a payment method at the gate entrance, beer gardens, and the cabaret grounds. People on social media have thought that cash will no longer be taken during the event. President Crystal Ross noted that this is not the case.

"We are trying to offer a little bit more of a convenience to the patrons that are coming through the gate. So, we're offering debit, credit and online ticket sales, which means you're going to get in a little bit faster. We are not turning people away with cash. If they are coming with cash, they can pay with cash if you're coming to the gate."

Last night, the association put out a statement on Facebook further clarifying their stance on using cashless payments during the event.

The Energy City Ex promises to be a big event, featuring the midway, the rodeo, and the Ag Pavilion. EEA estimates that it sees thousands of people during the weekend-long event. Ross warns that there may be long lines or delays.

"We just really ask that people just give a little extra patience to the people that are pouring their heart and soul into this event to bring it to you so that you can enjoy it. Have fun! We're so excited that you guys are going to be coming through the gate. So, just have a little extra patience for our volunteers."
