Weyburn’s Deana Mainil attended the Saskatchewan Provincial Pickleball Tournament in Saskatoon over the weekend, hosted by the Henk Ruys Soccer Center & Umea Courts.
The event marked the largest sanctioned pickleball tournament in the province's history, with 380 athletes in attendance, playing on 18 courts.
Mainil took home three medals from the event. She earned a silver medal on Friday, playing Women's Doubles 4.0 and over with partner Nellie Helms. On Saturday she secured bronze playing Mixed Doubles 4.0 and over with partner Dave Clarke. Sunday, she saw another silver finish playing Women's Full Court Singles 3.5 and over.
Her performance at the provincial tournament earned Mainil a golden ticket to join Team Saskatchewan at the national pickleball tournament in Winnipeg from August 19th to 24th.
