The Saskatchewan Day of Caring is tomorrow, with radio stations across the province joining forces to support wildfire evacuees from the north.

Content director for Golden West Broadcasting in Weyburn, Dara Currie, says while the event is important throughout Saskatchewan, it’s especially significant here in Weyburn.

“We are one of the cities that are hosting a number of evacuees. One thing I've seen a lot of is people in Weyburn wondering how they can help, ‘how can I help them?’ to the point that there were many releases going out being like, ‘hey, you can't make donations this way. Don't do this. Don't do this’.”

“We want them to know they're not alone in this. We see you and we're here for you. We want to support you and help you out in any way we can.”

Currie explains the Day of Caring is a partnership between Saskatchewan radio stations and the Red Cross to give people a place to show their support.

Donations can be sent online through the link on DiscoverWeyburn.com or donate $10 by texting “radio” to 45678. The Government of Saskatchewan will also be matching every donation.

“All donations are going directly to the Canadian Red Cross 2025 Saskatchewan Wildfires Appeal. So that money goes directly to helping support the wildfire evacuees, some of which are currently here in Weyburn.”

Keep up with the Saskatchewan Day of Caring and show your support online at DiscoverWeyburn.com or on-air on AM 1190, Country 106.7, or Magic 103.5.
