A charge laid for resisting arrest and obstruction began with a report of a highly intoxicated man outside of a local drinking establishment. The Weyburn Police Service attended the scene, where Deputy Chief Shane St. John says they found the man out on the sidewalk.
“It appeared they may have passed out. So, EMS did attend as well to assist with that. But when the person came around, he was very assaultive.”
"The person came to and then became very violent, very aggressive, and fought police.”
St. John says it was clear the man was impaired by alcohol and was arrested for public intoxication and held in custody until sober. He was later charged with resisting arrest and obstruction.
Fortunately, no one was injured during the altercation.
