Early Saturday morning, the Weyburn Police Service responded to a report of domestic violence involving a man and woman. Officers attended a residence where the man had fled, however the woman was found with visible injuries.
Deputy Chief Shane St.John says the male eventually turned himself in.
“It's always best, I guess, if you know police are looking for you to turn yourself in. Better than us maybe finding you, for sure. If this person clearly knew that we were looking for him and turned himself in, it was definitely the best option.”
St. John says the investigation is still ongoing, and while the man was arrested and charged, there may be more charges pending.
“An unfortunate situation, and you just want everyone to stay safe. There's some investigation still going, and further charges, more serious charges may come out of this as well.”
The man was also put under conditions, including a no-contact order with the victim.
