Fire Advisory in effect for Claresholm

The Claresholm Fire Department has issued a Fire Advisory for the town as a result of hot, dry conditions.   

Under the advisory, backyard fire pits and liquid, pellet, or gas-fueled cooking appliances are still permitted.  

Fireworks, incinerators, and chimineas are prohibited, along with open burning of yard waste and debris. 

In addition, all active burn permits have been cancelled, and no new permits will be issued.  

During this time, anyone who uses their fire pit is asked to use extreme caution.  

The advisory came into effect today (June 12) at 8 a.m. and could be upgraded to a Fire Restriction or Fire Ban with limited notice.
