Almost 100 people gathered on June 6 for a picnic hosted by the Manitoba Association Christian Home Schools.

It was a sunny afternoon in the park and the atmosphere was filled with laughter and chatter as children participated in fun games such as tag and capture the flag.

"We're here to come alongside homeschoolers that way they can educate their kids, but then they have support to encourage them and equip them," said Heather, a board member of MACHS.

MACHS was founded in the 1980s and has been impacting and helping homeschoolers ever since.

MACHS mission is to, "Connect homeschool families through regional reps, support one another in prayer, encouragement and practical help, equip parents through training for effective homeschooling and guidance on legal requirements, and advocate for homeschooling freedom, dispel misconceptions and raise awareness," as stated on their website.

MACHS consistently aims to provide support and encouragement to homeschooling families in their journeys.

"For my kids it's been such a joy and a blessing," said Christi, a homeschooling parent about the community that MACHS provides.

"We've met so many friends, and my kids have made fantastic friendships," Christi continued.

Attendees spoke about the benefits of homeschooling for their respective families. The importance of ensuring biblical teaching in the education of their children was emphasized as a primary point.

"I've been homeschooled my entire life and it has been amazing experience. I've grown so much because of it and I am the person I am because of it," said Anissa, a Grade 11 homeschooling student about her experience.

This picnic brought together many families to offer encouragement and support.
