The MRI project has seen plenty of donations come in over the months from businesses and organizations, but community members are also giving just as much. One big-dollar donation came in from Larry Preddy, who gave $75,000 to see an MRI machine be established at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Preddy says that since he's sold Hender's Drugs, a business which saw a lot of support from the community, he wanted to give some of that money back to Estevan.
"We recently sold the store and want to distribute some of the proceeds in the community. The community has been very good to me, so time to give back."
Preddy has had to use an MRI machine in the past, having to use the one in Regina at the time.
While he was staying in Weyburn at the time, and as such, the trip wasn't as bad, he says the new MRI will really help out the southeast.
"It certainly would be nice for people around here not to have to travel."
Preddy wants to have the MRI come to Estevan so it can help out everyone possible and encourages others to donate.
"It's their future and their city and their life and their lives of their loved ones and everyone else. It's time that people have to step up once in a while and look after other people other than themselves."
Preddy says that any amount can make a big difference for the MRI project.
