High River Town Council approved modifications to improve visibility and enhance safety at a notorious intersection during the June 9 regular meeting.
Throughout the years, the town has received ongoing concerns regarding the High Country Drive and High View Gate intersection.
To improve safety in the area, town administration proposed retaining the four-way stop and the temporary concrete curb extensions, realigning the pathways, relocating the golf course crossing next to the pedestrian crossing, and installing access ramps.
Going forward, town administration will work with Highwood Golf on the modifications required for the new pathway and crossing.
The project is estimated at $40,000 and is tentatively scheduled to begin in late June and continue into early July.
The required funding will be covered by the 2025 Capital Budget for the Miscellaneous Pedestrian Improvement Project.
