Thatcher Drive East from Ninth Avenue Northeast to Highway 1 will be temporarily closed for paving starting Monday.
City contractors will be on site to complete asphalt milling, paving and deep road repairs, with the work expected to be completed by June 20, weather permitting.
Temporary barricades will be in place on the east side of the Ninth Avenue Northeast intersection to the Highway 1 turnoff, and the roadway will be closed to both eastbound and westbound traffic.
Highway 1 traffic will not be affected by the closure. However, motorists will not be able to enter Moose Jaw from Highway 1 via Thatcher Drive. Drivers can still enter the city using Ninth Avenue Northwest, Highland Road, Caribou Street East and Manitoba Expressway.
Traffic heading north, west and south will still have access to the Ninth Avenue intersection, but access to the north end of Lakeview Road and the north entrance to Prairie Oasis and McDonald’s on Thatcher Drive will be closed.
Lakeview Road will remain open, and highway traffic travelling east can access the area via the Lakeview Road south entrance.
Motorists are reminded to use extra caution when driving through construction zones, remain outside of barricaded areas, and follow all temporary signage to ensure everyone’s safety.
