Portage la Prairie residents can look forward to ideal weather for Father’s Day celebrations, with sunny skies and summer-like warmth in the forecast.
Environment Canada meteorologist Shannon Moodie says the weekend starts off mild on Saturday with a high of 22 and some hazy conditions, but things really warm up on Sunday.
“We’re looking at quite a nice day with a high of 28 and some light southerly winds,” she notes.
Moodie adds that smoke and haze could still linger through the weekend, but overall, conditions stay dry and stable.
“There may still be some lingering smoke and haze,” she says.
Rain holds off until Monday
If you’re planning outdoor time with dad, Sunday is the day to do it.
Moodie says Monday could bring showers and thunderstorms, but the weekend is expected to stay dry.
“There's a 60 percent chance of showers and a risk of thunderstorms for Monday,” she continues.
Next week brings sunshine and heat
Looking further ahead, Moodie says next week brings a stretch of sunshine and slightly warmer-than-normal temperatures.
“It’s looking like temperatures through the long range are going to be in the mid to high 20s,” she remarks. “Normal for this period is a high of 23.”
Moodie mentions the weather pattern remains calm overall.
