It's Father's Day on Sunday and there's plenty going on in and around Moose Jaw to mark the occasion. Here's a quick look at what is coming up this weekend:
1. The 35th Annual Riverhurst Walleye Classic
The Village of Riverhurst is once again hosting its Father's Day catch and release tournament. The action gets underway at the Rusty's Coulee Marina at 6 a.m. on Saturday. There's plenty to do—on and off the water—as there is live music, raffles, dinners and more on the go over the event's two-day run. All of the proceeds raised go towards the upkeep of the village's recreation facilities.
2. The 16th Annual Mortlach Saskatoon Berry Festival
Just 30 minutes west of Moose Jaw lies the Village of Mortlach, which has brought back its Saskatoon Berry Festival for another year. The festival kicks off Saturday, June 14, running from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and will feature a plethora of berry-themed treats, wagon rides, games, a trade show, and live music. The festival starts with a pancake breakfast, the pie sale to follow at 9 a.m. The full schedule can be found by clicking here.
3. The 8th Annual Moose Jaw Beerfest
If you're planning on taking your dad out for a drink, why not stop by 82 Manitoba Street West and enjoy an afternoon with a wide variety of beers to try and two live music performances on the Cask 82 parking lot patio? It's $20 per ticket, which gets you three drink sample tickets and entry to both concerts. Tickets can be purchased in-person at Cask 82, The Crushed Can, or online. More information can be found here.
4. Father's Day Crafts at the Town 'n' Country Mall
This free, family friendly, and in-town activity at the Town 'n' Country Mall is a great opportunity to add a personal touch to your Father's Day gifts. From 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. a craft station colouring sheets, a beaded keychain station and more will be open to the public. Cotton candy and slushies will be on sale, courtesy of Monkey Bars Indoor Playcentre, with Vege World on hand with ice cream and lemonade.
5. Briercrest's 11th Annual Heritage Day
A Show & Shine and Tractor Show running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. kicks off the village's 11th annual Heritage Day. The day is full of events and activities ranging from a Parade, Slow Pitch Tournament, Beer Gardens and First Nations Dancing to blacksmithing, cowboy poetry and bouncy castles.
