Excitement is building in Estevan as the city gears up for its annual parade, set to hit the streets later today.

Paulann Boulding with Smile Services said the lineup for floats will begin at 3:30 p.m. Participants are asked to head down 3rd Street past Westview School to the stop sign at Alice and 1st Street. From there, they’ll turn left and follow the valley to find their designated spots, marked with pegs.

“I've already called all the floats and told them their number,” said Bolding.

The parade itself will begin at 4:30 p.m. It will travel down 1st Street until Souris Ave, head left to 6th Street, around the corner near McDonald’s, before making its way toward the fairgrounds.

As of Friday morning, 37 floats had registered, but the actual number of vehicles is expected to be higher.

“Some floats have multiple vehicles, for example, Camel Towing has four large trucks, and they’ll be joined by several trailers and cars carrying this year’s graduates,” said Bolding. “There are quite a few grads this year.”

This year’s parade theme is Hats Off to Estevan’s Rodeo.
