A total of 93 calls for service were made to the Weyburn Police Service in the week of June 1st to 8th. Here's a look at notable events from the week.

On June 1st, officers saw a man and woman walking together while on routine patrol. They were aware of court-imposed conditions prohibiting contact between the two people. Both were arrested and charged for breach of conditions.

The following day, police were first to respond to a call from Provincial Fire regarding a fire on Ash Drive. they arrived to find a three-wheeled travel bike in flames. Aided by the homeowner and the use of a neighbours garden hose, officers were able to contain and extinguish the flames before fire crews arrived and secured the scene. The bike was totally lost, and the front of the residence sustained significant damage.

On June 3rd, police conducted a routine traffic stop where the driver was found without a valid drives license and also subject to a 24-hour curfew under a Community Sentence Order. He was arrested and remanded in custody pending a court date.

A few days later on June 6th, officers arrived at a local gas station, where they were called following reports of a suspected impaired driver. They located the driver, a man in control of their vehicle but displaying signs of drug impairment. A drug recognition expert was called to the scene where an assessment was conducted confirming suspicions of impairment. The driver was arrested and charged accordingly.

The next day, a highly intoxicated man was reported to police outside of a local drinking establishment. When police arrived, he became combative while being taken into custody for public intoxication. He was charged with resisting arrest and obstruction and held in custody until sober.

The same day, police responded to a report of domestic violence between a man and a woman. The man had fled the home before police arrived, but officers found the woman with visible injuries. The man later turned himself in to police and was arrested, charged, and placed under conditions, including a no contact order with the woman.

Throughout the week, police responded to 10 wellness and mental health related calls. One person was transported for further care, and another was taken into custody due to a high level of intoxication. The other incidents were resolved peacefully with no further police action needed.
