Cruisin the 32 saw a large host of hot rods take over Pennant on Saturday.

Standard Street had 50 vehicles come to town and register for the show. From big blocks to two strokes, there was a little bit of everything. Brand new Corvettes, original 1920's town cars, custom built trucks and all original rides packed the pavement, mixing and mingling before the 2 p.m. cruise to Cabri.

Organizing this event for the fifth year in a row was Jason Dowdeswell, who brought out both his 1983 Chevrolet pickup truck, and hus custom resto-mod, Brutus.

"It's great to still see lots of people show up," said Dowdeswell. "The weather looks bad tomorrow, so we nailed the day."

Dowdeswell's father brought out a very unique ride. A 1962 Chrysler Saratoga. This vehicle was originally Dowdeswell's great grandfather's car, with his dad having bought it from him close to 50 years ago.

The senior Dowdeswell recently pulled it out of the barn and got it running, bringing it out to the show.

Vehicles were able to register, with proceeds from the event and the silent auction at the Community Hall going to the Pennant Seniors Centre.

Folks were also able to stop by Brenda'z Inn for brisket on a bun and other refreshments.

"The show brings a lot of people to town, which is good for the hotel and other businesses," said Dowdeswell.

This year, Dowdeswell introduced a new award with the 'Push Pull Drag Award'. It goes to the first car that breaks down during the cruise.

"Just about every year there's one that makes it to the show and goes on the cruise, but doesn't make it back," laughed Dowdeswell.

The trophy puts a positive spin on an otherwise unfortunate turn of events.

If anyone would to sponsor a trophy or prize for next years Cruisin the 32, they can reach out to Dowdeswell on Facebook.
