The 18U AAA East Central Red Sox dropped both games of a doubleheader against the Saskatoon Diamondbacks on Sunday.
In the first game the Diamondbacks won a wild 14-13 game. Then in the second game, Saskatoon beat the Red Sox 18-6.
The Diamondbacks led the first game 7-2 after the first four innings before the Red Sox came back with ten runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to lead 12-7.
However, it was a short-lived lead with the Diamondbacks answering back with six runs in the top of the sixth inning to pull ahead 13-12. The teams traded runs to end the game.
First baseman Cade Armstrong had three hits and drove in a pair of runs. Left fielder Jacob Trann had four RBIs. Cade Britz and Blake Morelli added a pair of hits each.
In the second game, after giving up two runs in the top of the first inning, the Red Sox came back with four runs to grab the lead.
The Diamondbacks provided another quick answer as they tied the game in the second inning. They added another run in the fourth, before extending their lead with five runs in the fifth inning.
After the Red Sox added two runs, the Diamondbacks would pile eight runs in the seventh inning, extinguishing any hopes of a home win.
Armstrong had two hits and a pair of RBIs. Luke Manz was the other Red Sox player who had multiple hits in the game.
With the two losses, the Red Sox’s record drops to 10-7 on the year.
Next action for the squad is on Wednesday with a trip to Saskatoon to meet the Giants.
