Wesley “Wes” Sprinkle
October 3, 1953 – June 13, 2025
Wesley Claybourne Sprinkle was born on October 3rd, 1953, in Medicine Hat, the second child born to Bill and Doreen Sprinkle. Following the breakup of the family Wes moved with his brother Bill and father to live with his grandparents in Saskatchewan and they eventually settled on a farm in the Furdale community south of Saskatoon. His education was received in the one room school at Furdale followed by Grasswood Public School and then years of riding the bus to Clavet with his siblings.
When age and stature allowed Wes, he found employment with neighbours and local farmers as a labourer, at the nearby mink farm and with local dog breeders. With his keen appetite for learning and living new experiences, Wes easily qualified as a master ‘Jack of all Trades’. Gathering the extensive resume of Wes’ journey has been challenging and this list reveals a colourful picture of this unique and sensitive man. His work and life experiences included: working for CP rail, employed in a potash mine, building trade and construction, picture framing skills and sales, chef in fine dining restaurants in Calgary and Saskatoon, carpet layer, insulation installation and asbestos removal, received training and worked with high needs children with intense challenges at the John Dolan School in Saskatoon, camp counsellor at Camp Tamarack for several summers, registered care aide for the elderly and dementia patients at the Lutheran Care Home, mineral surveying in remote northern Canada, eight years as a massage therapist at Circle Chiropractic in Saskatoon, trained for and enjoyed 5 fulfilling years as a professional fishing guide at Wollaston Lake Lodge in northern Saskatchewan with several winters spent there as the property caretaker and carpenter, and the last 20 years were as a self employed handyman in Humboldt providing home maintenance support for local folks and group homes.
Motorcycling, Bike riding, swimming, hiking, woodworking, and of course fishing on probably every lake in Saskatchewan were amongst his R&R activities. Music and movies were an integral part of Wes’ life and he had an extensive collection and incredibly broad knowledge of both. In June 2019, Wes and Elizabeth drove from Humboldt to Vancouver to attend an Andrea Bocelli concert with his sister Barb and brother-in-law Ron.
Respect for yourself and others, honesty, loyalty to loved ones and living life to the fullest - that was Wes Sprinkle. A huge personality who will be dearly missed by granddaughter Chloe Miller-McAulay and wife Elizabeth; siblings William Charles Sprinkle, Jerrine Marie Pinel, Barbara AnneMarie Gibb, Paul Campbell, and Travis Michael Campbell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and all who counted him as a friend. Wes was predeceased by his father William Neil Sprinkle, mother Doreen Iris Mayor, and sisters Laurel Lee Sprinkle and Roxanne Cindy Sprinkle.
