The Estevan Police Service responded to a variety of calls over the past several days, ranging from neighbour disputes and public disturbances to reports of mischief, intoxication and even a deer caught in a fence.

On June 12, the Estevan Police Service received a report of mischief to a motor vehicle. The matter remains under investigation. That same day, police conducted a well-being check on a female at an apartment complex. Officers made contact with her, but she declined any services.

Police also received a report of a deer caught in a fence within city limits. Due to other ongoing matters, neither EPS nor Conservation officers were able to attend. The complainant’s family was able to free the animal before police arrived.

Officers responded to a dispute between two neighbours regarding a property line. Police helped mediate a temporary resolution until the matter can be addressed through the appropriate city departments.

A report of a female causing a disturbance at a local apartment complex was received. She had left the scene before officers arrived.

Police are also investigating a report of criminal harassment.

On Friday, June 13, officers responded to a report from Willow Park Greens, where several youths believed they heard someone inside a residence calling for help. Members attended and found the homes to be vacant.

A report was received of an individual uttering threats. A statement was obtained and the matter remains under investigation. A second complaint of threats was also received and is being investigated.

An investigation into an assault led to the arrest of an Estevan man, who was charged and released with conditions, including no contact with the victim.

A grossly intoxicated male was reported to be passed out near the water tower. Officers located and arrested the man for being intoxicated in public. He was lodged in cells until sober.

Screams were reported in the Westview area. Police attended and located a woman on her deck, yelling statements about the city and her neighbours. She was under the influence of drugs and stated she intended to keep yelling. She was arrested for breach of the peace and lodged in cells until sober.

Over the weekend, police received a total of 44 calls for service. Four individuals were lodged in cells and have since been released.

Police responded to a report of two individuals fighting and throwing items at each other in a downtown parking lot. A male and a female were identified as the subjects of the complaint. The woman had come to visit a tenant at a nearby hotel and became involved in a dispute with another tenant. Both were cautioned and sent on their way.

Officers were also called to a restaurant after a woman arrived stating she was hungry but had no money. A staff member purchased a meal for her, but she remained at the location afterward. Police attended and transported her home.

EPS also assisted EMS with an intoxicated individual who had fallen. By the time police arrived, EMS had the woman in the ambulance and transported her to St. Joseph’s Hospital for care.

Finally, police responded to a complaint of several vehicles driving erratically in an east side business parking lot. Members attended and monitored the area but did not observe any activity that warranted enforcement.
