An annual event is making its return this week, showcasing the work and the tools used to accomplish it, of the City of Weyburn’s Public Works Department.

The 4th annual Public Works Open House is coming up on Wednesday, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The event is once again being held at the city’s Fleet Storage building on 16th Street.

“That’s going to consist of some interactive displays, interactive equipment displays, a kids’ sandbox,” said Renee Cugnet, the City of Weyburn’s Director of Engineering. “There’s going to be hot dogs, and they are free.”

Cugnet added that those who come out to the open house will also get the chance to meet with some of the Public Works staff, as well as Emergency Services personnel, such as the Weyburn Fire Department, who will have some of their equipment out on display for the event.

The open house, as always, is expected to be a big hit with the younger attendees.

“Little kiddos can climb up and take a seat in some big equipment,” said Cugnet.
