Women's cancer support group, WeyStrong have been active in the community since their launch last summer, holding two events in the past week.
According to WeyStrong member Lisa Vick, the organization hosted local cancer survivors at the greenhouse at the Co-Op home store; as part of their "growing stronger together' event last Monday. There, Jon and Jacquie from Roughbark Acres led those in attendance in creating flower baskets. In total, 24 baskets were made.
Vick describes the evening as a “gorgeous, bug free evening spent learning planting tips, proper flowerpot arrangement, and after care”.
Each survivor went home with a flower basket complete with a handmade WeyStrong metal plant stake.
They were also at the Sooline Cruisers Show and Shine on Saturday hosting a bake sale, selling treats and raising awareness about WeyStrong and the resources they offer.
