With less than a week to go before the SaskPower Windscape Kite Festival and Long Days Night, there is still a significant need for volunteers.
"It's the only international Kite Festival in all of Western Canada," said Christine Ciona, one of the volunteer coordinators. "We bring in flyers from around the world, celebrate culture, arts, community, and people can come from far to be with us on the hill.
"All of that magic runs on volunteers from our community. This beautiful experience requires about 200 volunteers every day. So that everyone who walks in the door or walks in the tent is greeted, is welcomed, can get directions on what areas to go to, and really full of support."
The biggest needs currently include 20 volunteers for Saturday at the Kite Festival, 30 for Sunday, and some volunteer help for Saturday night at Long Day's Night music festival.
"We've got kids' activities," said another volunteer coordinator, Kelsey Fisher. "We've got sales, we've got inside stuff, we've got outside stuff, we've got parking lot stuff. Wherever anybody feels that they could be of service and where they would feel comfortable, I'm sure we can find something that would work."
Anyone interested can contact volunteer@windscapekitefestival.ca, visit their website, or seek them out on social media.
The festival is offering orientation tomorrow night to all their volunteers and suggests it's a good opportunity for businesses or students to volunteer together.
