Celebrities, vendors, golfers and volunteers gathered yesterday for the Canadian Tire Moose Jaw Golf Classic, raising thousands of dollars for the Jumpstart charity. It helps children across our country overcome financial and accessibility barriers to participate in sports and recreation.

We heard first-hand how it happens and how it works.

A high school teacher by the name of Ray Rawlyk delivered the attestation.

The school he works at educates students from about 30 different countries around the world. He found, many years ago, the one thing that brought those kids together was the sport of soccer. He started a program with almost no resources. He needed equipment. He needed money.

Rawlyk turned to Canadian Tire and their Jumpstart charity. They delivered.

His student athletes soon had new soccer balls, shin guards and uniforms which they proudly wore on their way to a number of local and provincial championships.

Rawlyk got emotional when he talked about how some of these kids arrive in Canada with absolutely nothing and how they truly cherish the opportunities they have in our country - opportunities made possible, in part, by our donations to Canadian Tire's Jumpstart.
