Sunny, the lovable mascot for Sunny 94.1, took the day off yesterday to celebrate National Mascots Day.

Now that he’s back at work, we’re shining a spotlight on this ray of sunshine to highlight all the great work he does not just at the station, but in the community, too.

Sunny is 19 years old and has been bringing smiles to Central Alberta since 2006.

This bright mascot loves all sunny things like SunChips, SunnyD and, especially, eggs sunny side up.

When he’s not suntanning or cruising through local communities, you’ll find him playing sports like baseball, basketball and street hockey.

Fun fact, Sunny once pitched a winning baseball game and even made it onto TSN and Sportsnet during Hometown Hockey in Lacombe in 2018.

Sunny also loves taking part in Classroom of the Month, where he gets to meet kids from all over Central Alberta.

He may be able to drive, but Sunny prefers riding shotgun with the windows down and the tunes blasting.

Some of his favourite songs include "Here Comes the Sun" by The Beatles, "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves, "House of the Rising Sun" by The Animals, and Tina Turner’s "Private Dancer."

He lives for parades, loves meeting kids and families, and dreams of one day becoming a DJ on Sunny 94.1, just like Tank, Adam and Darin.

With a big birthday just around the corner, Sunny’s ready to celebrate in style and is gearing up for the Lacombe Days Kickoff BBQ one of his favourite events of the year.

Next up on Sunny’s to-do list is learning how to ice skate, preferably without falling too much.

With a heart as warm as the summer sun, Sunny is always ready to bring joy, laughter and a whole lot of sunshine wherever he goes.
