Graduates from Garden Valley Collegiate and Northlands Parkway Collegiate were honoured last Wednesday with a grad parade in Winkler. A tradition since 2020, turnout from the community was excellent to support this year’s grads.
The parade offered an opportunity for grads to put their creativity on show, and Yaroslav Yagudin and his friends certainly did so. They customized “a Batmobile with a pool": a convertible with a pool in the back seats, where they sat during the parade.
The future looks bright and sunny for NPC grads Ariana Dueck and Brooklyn Klassen, who are both going to Hawaii with YWAM. For both Klassen and Dueck, a highlight of their high school years was the friendships they made, with Klassen sharing that a highlight was a school trip to Europe. “It was really fun going to all the different places” she shared.
At the end of the day though, it was friends they made here at home that counted. “Connecting with my classmates this year was really awesome” shared Klassen. “We didn’t connect through most of the years... it was really good to just connect with everyone this year.”
For GVC grad Michelle Beckstedt, her decision to go to GVC was one she doesn’t regret. “It was really fun. I made lots of friends and I’m never gonna forget these high school years” As for the future, Beckstedt is attending Red River College in the business admin program.
Katharine Gildenberg’s second eldest child is graduating this year, something that she shares is an “exciting” experience. Gildenberg’s message to her daughter’s graduating class echoes the hard work they have already put in: “I wish you to continue the same way...dreaming the dreams, reaching the goal.”
Congratulations to the graduating class of 2025!
