Communities Initiatives Fund grants provide community organizations with the wherewithal to run programs, enhance facilities, and enhance recreational and support opportunities.
From the February and April 2025 grant deadlines, a total of 457 grants totalling $6,526,313 are bound for projects in 156 different communities.
From the April 1 deadline, 202 grants will support programs that will contribute to the wellbeing of children and youth, families, and communities. The aims of many of the funded programs include supporting self-esteem, fostering positive mental health, and providing family supports for healthy lifestyles. Non-profit organizations benefit with expanded capacity for programs and stronger volunteer outreach.
Humboldt agencies that received funding from the April deadline include Humboldt and District Community Services for its inclusive social programming, including dances, and Humboldt Regional Safety Committee to support its senior safety symposium.
“The Community Initiatives Fund plays a crucial role in supporting a wide range of organizations, people and communities throughout the province,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Alana Ross said. “These grants help strengthen important programs, while enhancing the quality of life for all Saskatchewan people. Our government is proud to support the CIF’s important work through a dedicated share of annual SaskGaming casino revenues, which typically results in $8M to $9M of funding each year.”
Additionally, 255 Summer Grant programs were approved totaling $1,645,106 to support camps and day programs offering positive recreation, arts, culture, and learning opportunities for Saskatchewan children and youth during the summer months.
Once again, Humboldt and area organizations were beneficiaries with Humboldt and District Community Services, Humboldt Public School Childcare Centre, Prairie Sky Trails Association and Wapiti Regional Library all receiving funds to support their individual summer youth programs.
“At the Community Initiatives Fund, we’re continually inspired by the dedication and innovation of the organizations we support,” said Tracey Mann, Executive Director of the Community Initiatives Fund. “Their efforts make a lasting difference in communities across Saskatchewan, and we’re proud to be part of that impact.”
The CIF is a Special Purpose Fund created through The Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan Corporation Act and managed by a government appointed Board of community volunteers.
