Estevan will play host to some finals this weekend as baseball teams descend on the diamonds here in town. The games will host a few minor leagues with teams coming from across the southeast.
Estevan Minor Baseball President Mel Murray talks about the upcoming games this weekend.
"The Moose Mountain League has their wrap-up this weekend, and Estevan is hosting the 18U over at Lynn Prime Park. We're also hosting the 11U down at Cactus Park."
The 11U tournament will feature the Estevan Minor Baseball League teams as they go head-to-head.
The two events will fill up the schedule for the weekend, being joined by a third at another field, says Murray.
"The 18U is going to go on Saturday. It'll be a one-day tournament. The 11U is going on Sunday, and also just a one-day tournament. Also on Saturday, down at Cactus, we're hosting our Rally Cap League wind-up. So really, all weekend is going to be ball."
Murray is looking forward to the season, even if it has been a bit short.
"It's really good. We held the 18U last year as well, and it went really well. So it's worked out pretty good for us."
Murray says after the weekend, Estevan Minor Baseball will be getting ready for provincials, which are coming up this July
