It will be a second straight trip to Ontario for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Following last week’s win in Hamilton, the Roughriders will head to the “Big Smoke” to meet the Toronto Argonauts.
After plenty of movement on their roster through the first two weeks, the green and white will only be making two changes to their lineup this week.
Wide receiver Samuel Emilus will be out this week with a leg injury that occurred last week in Hamilton. Through the first two weeks in the year, Emilus is second in the Canadian Football League in receptions and fifth in receiving yards. It appears the Canadian wide receiver absence will be short-term as he was placed on the one-game injured list this week.
Replacing Emilus in the starting lineup will be Joe Robustelli. The 27-year-old saw action in one game last season and had two catches with 15 yards. His grandfather was Andy Robustelli, a defensive end with the New York Giants and Los Angeles Rams, who helped the Giants win two NFL Championships, he was selected to seven Pro Bowls, was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame and had his name added to the Giants Ring of Honor.
The other change will see running back Thomas Bertrand-Hudon return as the backup to AJ Ouellette, while Ka’Deem Carey will be out this week. Carey was released by the Argonauts following training camp and was looking forward to the opportunity to face his old team.
On the other side, the injury bug has hit the Argos. Seven starters will be sidelined this week. Linebacker Wynton McManis and Davaris Daniels headline the missing starters for Toronto. Former Roughrider Demarcus Christmas will miss this week’s game as he was placed on the six-game injured list.
Nick Arbuckle will start his third game at quarterback as Chad Kelly continues to recover from his broken leg injury that he suffered in last year’s Eastern Final.
Saskatchewan will make their final trek to Ontario on October 3, when they meet the Ottawa Redblacks.
The green and white will be back on home turf on Saturday, June 28, when they meet the BC Lions.
