Winnipeg Animal Services would like to improve its outdoor space, and they're looking for a helping hand to make it happen.
The plan is to build a sensory garden oasis for the dogs to help keep them calm and relaxed while in the city's care.
The hope is to fill the space with wonderful smells, colours, textures and items that help prevent anxiety most dogs feel while living in a shelter.
"Whether our pups are heading out for a quick pee break, playing 'find it' with a volunteer, or just soaking up the sunshine, we want the outdoors to be a calming, enjoyable space," said Winnipeg Animal Services.
So far, Winnipeg Animal Services has purchased clip-on pots to hang on the chain link fences that surround their outdoor area. However, they are looking for more.
They are also looking for planting soil and dog-friendly plants like lavender, rosemary, mint or barley grass.
Anyone with extra plants or pots is encouraged to drop them off at 1057 Logan Avenue.
