Rebels sign local 19-year-old defenceman

The Red Deer Rebels have signed defenceman Keith McInnis to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

McInnis, 19, was selected by the Rebels in the fifth round, 91st overall, in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft.

The Red Deer native spent the past two seasons with the Brooks Bandits, competing in both the AJHL and BCHL. He recorded 53 points — including 19 goals and 34 assists — across 77 regular season games.

This spring, McInnis co-led all BCHL defencemen in playoff scoring, notching 17 points (seven goals, 10 assists) in 21 games as the Bandits captured the league championship.

McInnis is committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs, an NCAA Division I program.
