The Weyburn Razorbacks put up a spirited effort but were ultimately outmatched by the Moose Jaw Mustangs in PGLL action Saturday night, falling 20-10.

The Mustangs came out firing, scoring eight times in the first period to take control of the game early. Despite a more competitive middle frame and a third-period push from the Razorbacks, Moose Jaw’s offensive depth proved too much.

Weyburn’s dynamic duo of Samuel Borschowa and Ryder Hignett continued to shine. Borschowa notched eight assists and one goal, while Hignett found the back of the net five times, adding two assists of his own. With their performances, Borschowa and Hignett now sit eighth and ninth in league scoring, with 39 and 38 points respectively.

Also finding the scoresheet for the Razorbacks were Wyatt Mickler, Brody Morrice, Nash Hignett, Vann Dennis, and goalie Ty Petersen, who added an assist.

The Mustangs saw a big game from Ryder Gilroy, who scored four goals and added three assists. Cooper Bruce contributed a hat trick and three helpers, while Lukas Salikin also recorded a hat trick.

The game saw its fair share of penalties, including a third-period fight that led to game misconducts for Weyburn’s Blake Becker and Moose Jaw’s Braxton Mac Angus. Mac Angus racked up 19 minutes in penalties, including the fighting major and game misconduct.

The Razorbacks now hold a 1-8-1 record with two games remaining in the regular season. They’ll look to finish strong when they host the Regina Chaos this Saturday at Tom Zandee Sports Arena in their final home game of the year.
