Estevan Police Service responded to 38 calls for service over the weekend. Eight charges were laid under the Traffic Safety Act, and several disturbances were mediated.

On June 20, police were called to the central part of the city after receiving reports of an intoxicated woman yelling at passersby. She was not located during patrols. A suspicious vehicle was also reported, but officers were unable to locate it due to limited information.

Police received a report of harassment involving inappropriate photos posted on Facebook. The matter remains under investigation. Officers also responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from a local residence, believed to have been taken sometime over the previous several days. The investigation is ongoing and includes gathering witness statements.

Later that day, an intoxicated woman was reported walking in public. Patrol members located her and she was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. She was held in custody until sober and able to care for herself. Officers also investigated an individual outside a local bar with open alcohol, resulting in several people receiving warnings.

On June 21, police received a Report Impaired Drivers (RID) complaint. The vehicle was located and the driver was determined not to be impaired but was cautioned regarding their driving actions. That same day, while on patrol, officers tracked a motorcycle travelling at 131 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on Kensington Avenue. The driver received a $1,145 speeding ticket and the motorcycle was seized due to the excessive speed.

On June 22, officers responded to a report of an assault at a local motel. They spoke with the victim, and the matter remains under investigation.

Police and EMS also responded to a report of a woman in distress at a local park. She was taken into custody and transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for assessment and treatment.
