I feel as though this is a phrase muttered frequently by most every adult. You wake up, something hurts that isn't normal. But you elect to not worry about it. It's fine, it'll go away. It's a scary attitude that honestly, feels as though has almost been an expected adoption for many adults.

I woke up yesterday with terrible upper back and neck pain. I know what it is. Many years ago, my 2 and 3 vertebrate went out, and ever since then, they frequently 'slip' and need correcting. The symptoms are obvious. I can't turn my neck without pain and tightness, and the rotation of my arms isn't as good because of the issue. They're telltale signs, and incredibly uncomfortable. But on a number of occasions, I've just let it subside. Eventually it will go away, or the pain will just become more manageable that I don't notice it anymore.

Why do we do this to ourselves? I feel like over the years, with the taxing on the healthcare system through COVID and everything beyond that, many adults just made the decision that "if it's not broken it doesn't need fixing." Dealing with sickness for weeks on end, pain you're not used to but just accept as the normal. And if you have children, then taking care of yourself first becomes 2nd, 3rd, 4th or further down the priority list. We don't want to add a burden to anyone's day by bothering them with minor inconveniences.

But what if it's not minor? And how do you know if it is or it isn't. One pinched nerve that you ignore could be the difference between a pain that goes away on it's own, or numbness in your arm while you're driving, or worse. Nobody is going to take care of, you have to do it for yourself, and that includes advocating for yourself. If something doesn't feel right, it is absolutely OK to go and get it checked out. And fight for your health. If it takes a turn, you can't break a block and get a green mushroom with an extra life. Advocate for the one you have today.
