Construction will cause more road closures in Okotoks.
North Railway Street will be closed from Poplar Ave to the east edge of Alberta Ave and Lineham Ave will be closed from North Railway St to South Railway St.
Not only that, but Pisttoo Park and Triangle Park will also be closed for improvements.
As part of the work being completed, crews will be installing new stormwater drainage systems, replacing sanitary sewer mains and potable water lines, completing roadway resurfacing, installing new sidewalks and landscaping.
There will be a full road closure in place between Poplar Ave and Alberta Ave from June 23 to October.
While the work is being completed, there will be detours in place, sending people on McRae Street and Alberta Ave to get around the work.
Even though there will be a road closure in place, there will still be access to the businesses in the area, including the Art Gallery and Museum, and residences.
As the work is happening, people can expect construction activity and traffic control personnel on-site, detour signage in place, and changed traffic patterns.
This work is being completed as part of the Town's ongoing effort to replace the aging underground infrastructure, as well reduce the risk of unexpected service disruptions and enhance downtown Okotoks.
Once the work is completed, there will be wider sidewalks and better lighting.
