Frontier Days got some official recognition from Swift Current city council.
June 22 to 28 has been proclaimed as Frontier Days Week, with the official proclamation coming after a presentation from the Swift Current Ag & Ex to Swift Current city council on Monday.
Presenting was Chris Martens, vice-president and board member of the Ag & Ex, and Kaylor Rudd, Frontier Days Ambassador for 2025. They listed off some of the fun that will be taking place, as well as describing what the Frontier Days Ambassador duties are.
"Kayla will be able to take you through a little bit of what you can expect to see this year at Frontier Days," said Martens. "The events, the entertainment and all the excitement that's around."
Rudd was selected as ambassador after applying for the position in April. She has been riding horses since she was three years old and recently completed her first year of the Environmental Science Conservation and Reclamation Program at Lakeland College.
She actively competes in barrel racing and pole bending as a member of the Lakeland College rodeo team.
"I'm so excited to be here today, on behalf of the Swift Current Ag & Ex," said Rudd.
Rudd revealed this year's Frontier Days theme to be 'Heritage, Heart, and New Horizons'.
"We're honouring our deep agricultural roots, celebrating the incredible community spirit that defines us and are looking ahead to all the exciting things to come," said Rudd.
Events like the Grandstand concerts, the rodeo, and the midway rides were all teased as a key part of the summer for many families and individuals. She encouraged people to check out the demolition derby on Friday, and the parade the next day on Saturday.
Another exciting element teased was the Neil McCoy concert, where he will be joined by Morgan Klaiber on Friday night at the grandstand at 8:30 p.m.
City council was able to learn about how Rudd will be attending the Calgary Stampede next week as a representative of the Swift Current Ag & Ex.
