The wind-up of the school year has seen schools getting their students outdoors for sports days, with some occurring last week.

Yellowquill School Physical Educator Nathaniel Guiboche works with students from Kindergarten to Grade 4, and and says h's excited to see all the kids enjoying the activities he set up outside.

"It looks like everybody's liking the bouncy castles. There's a water station on the other side of the school. Everybody seems to like the egg find and having some free time in the play structure. Those are pretty big. A lot of the time, they're also racing to get tickets for the auction. So they're trying to become first place or have the best effort at every station."

Guiboche comments that, being his second time, he wanted to make sure he improved on the previous event.

"Last year was just my first go-around learning everything. So, I just wanted to make sure that all the kids were doing something and engaging in all my activities. I'm hoping that next year will be even bigger and better with much more. I also appreciate all the help that the teachers are doing so."

Two of the students participating note their favourite parts so far.

Rylan says, "It would probably be the bouncy castle. We did the boxing things, we went down the slides a lot, we did basketball, and we did the ninja course."

Beck adds that the soccer kick event was his favourite part.

"You kick the ball as hard as you can, and if you kick it farther than your friend, you win."

The fun went on all around the school grounds, with water games behind the school, and races and other games in the middle of the track.
